Streets of the World

Streets of the World

Imagine going to almost two hundred different countries searching the streets for what connects us as human beings. Photojournalist Jeroen Swolfs did it in 7 years and brought these streets together in his life's work Streets of the World. As you can imagine that was quite the adventure!

Last Monday the BUas Chapel was filled with about 70 students who joined the guest lecture of Jeroen where he told about his successful Streets of the World project, and the challenges he encountered along the way. His story brings awareness to the global context, to the differences in the world and the cross cultural awareness of different people in different streets in the world. Besides the lecture, the students were given tips and tricks how to make good photos with their mobile phones. They got an assignment to capture ‘Freedom’ in a picture. A theme which is very relevant with the current situations in the world. The results will be shown during a follow-up session coming December!

The Streets of the World lecture was the kick-off of the Logistics+ programme. This is a personal development programme for first-year logistics students. Students are required to register for and attend at least two activities per semester and reflect on their experience and insights gained in their competency portfolio.
