To move or not to move?
What did you deliver and how did you get there?
I helped improve the logistics of the Erasmus hospital in Rotterdam, with a focus on the warehouse. The external warehouse was too small and expensive, so I investigated the best option: renovate, move or build our own warehouse.
What is the added value for the company?
The hospital has decided to remain at its current location despite the high costs. This turned out to be the best choice, considering the distance and the costs. I also investigated transport between the hospital and the warehouse. This showed that the hospital could save money by choosing a different transporter.
What did you enjoy or value the most?
I found it very interesting to learn more about the logistics of a hospital, especially since as a regular visitor you don't get to see any of that. For example, how they make sure the operating theatres always have enough supplies. I also found working with medical goods very fascinating!
